Interactive Design Review

Overview

Every report in NetBom is equipped with a variety of Interactive Design Review features. These features serve to enable the user to have a rich set of review tools available at all times.

After a design has been reviewed, the review data can be saved to a file, exported, and imported to other reports. This is incredibly useful when a team of people are all reviewing the same design. After each person finishes their portion of the review, they can export their review data to a file and send the file to the team lead. This team lead would then import all the design review files into their web report to see all the changes, approvals, rejections, and comments.

Design review changes are cached in the browser, so if you want to take a break you can close your browser and come back at any time in the future and your changes will persist!

Accept/Reject Design Elements

Almost every report in NetBom is equipped with the Accept/Reject/Clear feature (or A/R for short).
What this feature does is allows the user to mark which content in each report has been reviewed - what has been marked as good and what has been marked as bad.

This process is very easy. Simply select one or more rows, right-click, and select the Accept/Reject Rows option. There is also a hotkey for this which is displayed in the context menu.

Entire rows can be reviewed, and individual nodes/nets can also be reviewed.

See the recording below for the design review in action!

Net Tracing A/R

The A/R features are also available directly from the Net Trace Window! When accepting/rejecting a row from the Net Trace window, it will propagate the changes to the report that opened the Net Trace window - even if the report window is closed!

Changing design properties

Many reports also come with editable property fields. These properties are keyed to the net, part, or refdes, and are specific to either the new design or the old design depending on which report is active. In the example below, you can see when the voltage is edited for net V5P0_UUSB_CONN in the Nets With Added Pins report. The change propagates to the same net in the New Netlist report, since the report where it was edited is part of the New design.

Adding Review Comments

In addition to the A/R option, comments can be added to the comments column which is in every report that has the A/R functionality. Just like A/R, comments persist between browser sessions and are included in the design review export/import.

How To Share The Review

When you are finished reviewing the design, you can package it up using the Save/Load buttons in the header.

All the changes to the design will be included in the export and will be immediately populated when importing.
